🗣️ Dillon personal update
I’ve been absent from here for 187 days. Shit’s changed.
In that time, the smartest people on Twitter and in Silicon Valley discovered risking money to win money on sports, Taylor Swift put out another album, and Wemby probably grew another 2 inches.
For me personally, most of my “businessman time” went to my VP job at Underdog. In related news, I’ve been learning everything I can about Prediction Markets and passed the Series 3 exam.
At Underdog, the VIP squad is now fully formed. The team is AWESOME. I’m proud of us.
We stood up VIP Hosting, Sales, Strategy, and Player Experience functions.
Launched a cool first of its kind VIP brand called “The Doghouse”. (The first Doghouse you actually want to be thrown into).
Hosted people at over 200 events including the Masters, WNBA Finals, and 2 more Dawg Bowls.
Implemented the best Responsible Gambling safeguards in the industry.
And we’re the first VIP team prepped and ready to rock on Prediction Markets.
I’m so very excited for 2026. I’m going to try a lot of new things. Create more than I consume. And drink more water than anyone on the East Coast.
🎤 betonu update
Newsletter - at least 1 per month in 2026.
Over the last 6 months, 2 or 3 of you were probably like, “where’d that weekly email go. I miss scrolling to the bottom for the random NBA shooter”. I’ll be honest, even after only 15 issues, I started to feel repetitive doing gambling news and takes each week.
There are also already amazing sports gambling newsletters out there (Gouker, Ruddock, EKG, Earnings & More). I still think my perspective can be valuable in this space given the operational and customer-facing experience (and my own gambling exploits), so I’ll chime in on topics where I feel like I have valuable insight or that I’ll have fun typing about.
But I’m not going to pigeonhole myself into only sports gambling news. I’ve been knee-deep in this shit for 15 years and I’m mindful of burnout. I don’t want to become heliocentric like Luka and Trae Young. Can’t win a title that way. Also, working in a vice industry is…strange. I’ll write a bit about that plus my plan of a life pivot post-2030 where I may ban the word “gambling” from my vocabulary.
Community - landed 6 people their first job in the industry.
That part was awesome. Including a few people at Underdog who I’ve gotten a chance to meet!!!
Running an engaging community is more time consuming and mentally exhausting than I thought. That’s on me. We ended up not putting as many resources behind this as we hoped. The experience wasn’t as good as I intended. I’ll likely bag this until further notice, but still always want to meet top talent and love to help.
Consultancy - 1 slot open.
We don’t work with people unless they like making money and having fun.
